Hillandale is located in Maryland on both sides of New Hampshire Avenue just north of the Capital Beltway in Montgomery and Prince George's counties (view the map). This site is dedicated to providing you with information about the community and is maintained by the Hillandale Citizens Association (HCA) which was established in 1937.

National Night Out 2025

We would like to thank everyone that helped make the event fun for all. Kids seemed to enjoy the frozen treats and interactions with our first responders and McGruff the crime dog. Some even got to sit in a cruiser and sound the siren.

HCA Listserv

We would like to invite you to join our new listserv on Groups.io which is limited to households within the Hillandale community! There, you will be able post messages to all members for various topics such as:

• Reaching out to our community for services you need or can offer such as babysitting, lawn mowing, snow shoveling, dog walkers, play groups and more!
• Posting community, school, or library events that are occurring in and around Hillandale. We will also post announcements for future HCA events and programs there.
• Join, volunteer, or attend an event.
• Let others know if you are giving away a used item for a neighbor to enjoy. Just put CURB ALERT in the subject of your posting.
• Offer household items for sale to the community.
• Promote your business or recommend another.

HCA Membership

The Hillandale Executive Board is excited about our future and we want you to be part of it! All of our board members are unpaid but dedicated volunteers. Please consider joining the HCA.

• Mission: The main goal of the HCA is to help make Hillandale a better, safer and more enriching environment for you and your family.
• Public Forum: Consider the HCA as your source for learning about developments in the community and for speaking out on neighborhood issues that concern you.
• Advocacy: The HCA advocates for the interests of the Hillandale community before the County Council and other venues.
• Social Events: National Night Out in August and the Holiday party in December

Our modest budget supports all of the above as well as the Hillandale Bulletin which is mailed free-of-charge to all Hillandale households. We are still a very active neighborhood association with a history that goes back decades. Each year we solicit a voluntary $20 dues contribution from all households in the greater Hillandale community. Although not mandatory, the money helps cover our basic operating expenses each year and pay for community activities such as the holiday party and National Night Out.
